15 Months

IMG_8436Age: 15 Months

Stats: Height 32.5″ (90%), Weight 25lb 6.5oz (84%), Dome 47cm (55%) – I’m going to leave his 12 month stats below for comparison – kid had a HUGE growth spurt a couple weeks ago when he literally ate for 3 days straight and was miserable. Clearly…this is why!

Height 30″ (56%), Weight 22-14.5lb (74%), Dome 46cm (47%) <— I would honestly hate to see a baby with a head any larger!

Clothes/Size: Pretty much 12-18 month clothing and some 2T that has shrunk after washing. PJs though – at LEAST 3T because those babies shrink so much! I always buy them second hand to ensure they are pre-shrunk.

Favorite Foods: He has gotten a LITTLE pickier over the last couple months and I think maybe it’s because his taste is developing more. The bland, no flavor, no spice option is NOT an option anymore. He’s not a huge fan of meat – which is funny because when I was pregnant, ALL I wanted to eat was ground beef in any form. He isn’t huge on green beans, potatoes or pasta. He LOVES fruit and anything he can dip ketchup in – sometimes you gotta pull out the big guns.

Diaper size: Size 4 – which seem a little big and saggy still

How much am I eating: Still eating a ton. He has no off switch! He’s slowly being able to tell us he doesn’t want anymore which is nice….but that’s not very often. He eats 3 main meals with two snacks in between and sometimes a treat after dinner.

Words: “dada”, “mama”, “hi”, “hi dada”, “da” (dog), “uhbuhbuh” (umbrella), “owl”, “buhbuh” (bubbles) – yeah, the kid doesn’t want to start with easy words.

Activities: Climbing onto the couch and then walking all over it. Peeing on the floor. Playing outside (mostly just going to our neighbors house because they give him food), playing in the bathroom with all the hair and shaving products.

Sleep: Still totally inconsistent and it’s driving us slightly NUTS! Wakes up an hour after going to bed and sometimes takes a good 5-10 minutes to calm down…and sometimes waking AGAIN an hour later. The next night he’ll sleep 10 hours straight. No rhyme or reason. The Doctor said there’s nothing we are doing wrong and we just have to wait it out. It’s SOOOOO frustrating.

Favorite Things: Books. Music. Monitor. Remote Control. Phone. Bubbles or any small bottle or lotion tube. Not a fan of stuffed animals or anything like that. Loves his water table and playing in the sand.

Signature Moves: Giving kisses, hugs and cuddles, waving “hi” and bye-bye. Pulling every wipe out of the container when he’s supposed to be napping. Giving high-fives and putting his head on any animal we see when we say “soft?”.

Mom’s Proudest Moment: This is most definitely the most fun age. He cracks me up far more than he drives me nuts. He naps great and goes to bed easily. He has started talking a lot more and words are finally starting to emerge. In social situations he is usually so good and goes with the flow, he doesn’t really get shy (yet) and just walks around doing his thing. He’s got such a little personality.

Dad’s Proudest Moment: Brandon is getting so smart and remembering things. He may not be able to say the words yet but he knows everything we are saying to him. He is really getting good remembering faces and names which is the sweetest thing.

Bathing Suits for the “Mom-bod”

I really thought I’d be a better place right now – body wise – considering Brandon has been on the outside for nearly 14 months now; however, lets just say I’m not. While I still plan on rocking my typical ‘kini’s this year at the pool or beach, I want to share some options for those really wanting to keep things tucked and tight (especially if you plan on chasing some munchkins around).

SuitsI will be the first to admit that I’ve never been a fan of Tankini‘s…but they are coming back in style and look much more flattering. These options are great for covering a little extra skin in the mid-section from having a baby or one too-many-cupcakes over the last few months (raising my hand to both, thanks!). There’s strap less, one strap, halter and all that’s in between to be able to appeal to just about anyone!

Talk about coming a LONG way – one piece suits are back and they’re fierce…I’m actually considering trying some on! They are super cute and super flattering – you can feel comfortable and sexy all while keeping that belly tucked away. Moms – it’s also nursing friendly if you go with the bandeau option.

Here’s another trend that I’m not on board with but is SO popular – the high waist. Personally, no..it’s not for me. It’s cute on other people though! This is definitely your option if you are only carrying some extra weight in the midsection but still want that “bikini” feel. So easy to mix and match with tops you already have.

Last but not least, one of my favorites, a rashguard! I love this look because it’s super sporty and so comfortable and it works great with a growing bump!

For the Mama’s that are post baby, post nursing and feeling that their top half is lacking in some size, I suggest the ruffled bandeau for a boost “up there”! We all love throwing on shorts and a tank over the bathing suit to get from point A to point B…I’ll be the first one to say that’s my costume of choice. This year, spice things up with a cute little flowly dress and feel extra sexy!

Father’s Day

Let’s celebrate those Fathers or Father Figures in our lives whether it’s a Dad, Granddad, Uncle or Friend we love everything they do for us and show us. How about showing them how much we care.

fathersday

Hat / Wind Breaker / Sneakers / Copper Mug or Moscow Mule / Beats Pill / Wireless Headphones / Dude Wipes

If your Dad is anything like mine, they “don’t need anything, don’t want anything” and that is perfectly OK! But, sometimes it’s nice to get just a little something, because…why not? For some reason, I have a fascination with buying my husband sneakers…I just love them and getting new ones is always fun. I can never seem to find anything for me but for him, no problemo!

I think the moscow mule mug thing is a little, eh, I’m over it; however, the beer mugs are a little nicer and they can be engraved! Give Daddy a mug with a 6-pack or a couple of his favorite rare beers and his day just got a whole lot sweeter.

My coworker has these Beats Wireless headphones and he’s really impressed with them so I thought what a great idea for someone who has been wanting a pair for the gym or just everyday. They are great for working out and can be adjusted for your head – don’t forget the Beats Pill which lets yous jam out to your favorites anywhere!

You can never go wrong with a new baseball hat or wind breaker (I really think this is all stuff I want for myself, just the men’s version). Dude Wipes – I don’t think they need an explanation! And if your dad/husband/friend has everything he needs or wants, throw in for a gift card to a store or restaurant (even Ticketmaster) and let them find something they want.

Father’s Day is June 19 (I’m giving you two weeks notice) so GO, grab some goodies…but don’t tell him I sent you!

14 Month Snacks and Meals

It’s amazing how far we’ve come and how much things change in just a year – is this the biggest year of growth in human’s life, it has to be! Anyway, along with growth comes lots of change – for Brandon it has been with his belly. It seems like everyday is different – what he likes today, he spits out tomorrow and vice versa but if I add Ketchup it’s ALL good in the hood.

Breakfast

DSC_0004We’re still making mashed/pureed fruit for him to eat in the morning for breakfast mixed with yogurt and cereal – right now it’s the easiest thing to be prepped and ready to go for a hungry man (since we all know he can’t wait 30 seconds for food to be made). Every three weeks or so I buy some apples/pears/peaches whatever is on sale (or fruit from our weekly CSA), peel it, cut it up and put it in a pot with a small amount of water. If I have any fruit in the freezer, I’ll throw that in as well (strawberries, peaches, blueberries). Cover and cook until soft – mash with a potato masher. We spoon the mixture into an ice cube tray for easy portioning. Once frozen, pop the cubes into a ziploc – use 2 cubes each morning. Brandon has been needing a little more to eat in the morning so he’ll get some pancakes, waffles, quiche or whatever we have laying around!

Morning Snack

When we’re home with the little guy (versus when he’s at Daycare), he typically gets a snack late morning (only because I’m usually snacking and we all know one can’t eat without the other one eating as well). I’ll either share whatever protein bar I’m eating, yogurt tube, cottage cheese or some other healthy type of snack.

Lunch

IMG_8060Lunch is usually the easier meal to feed Brandon since it typically consists of leftovers. Who doesn’t love leftovers? Except, sometimes he can be a little punk and push the plate away if the stars don’t align perfectly (ie. the tray is attached to his high chair instead of him being pulled up to the table to eat like the rest of us). Turkey and Avo Sandwich, chicken, sweet potatoes, veggies, fruit, quesadilla – pretty much anything I can grab, chop and throw together quickly. I have a box of chicken nuggets in the freezer JUST in case we ever run out of something for him to eat.

Afternoon Snack

This snack also depends on what I’m eating. Last week I was eating cereal with almond milk. If he could get back inside my belly I think he would have tried because that’s how close to was to me while trying to eat my food. Again, depending on what I eat and what he had for morning snack and lunch changes what he has for snack. Sometimes bread and hummus, bread and peanut butter, yogurt, cottage cheese, fruit…anything I can get my hands on before he loses his sh*t.

Dinner

DSC_0568Providing Brandon isn’t in a fussy mood, dinner is usually a piece of cake, once we get past the witching hour (which is really any time of day Kevin or I step foot into the kitchen!). Brandon eats whatever we eat for dinner and usually “mmmm’s” through the ENTIRE meal. If we are eating something with a lot of spice, sauce or something not suitable for a baby we just make a small portion for him. Last night we had Orange Chicken and Rice – Brandon had chicken (minus the sauce) with leftover sweet potatoes and he couldn’t have been happier.

Drinks

We really are trying to make sure he gets his calcium either through yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese or milk. Some days he would just rather have juice (I can’t blame him) and those days he gets extra yogurt tubes. He has been drinking out of a straw now for about three weeks and that has been AMAZING. I literally used every curse word on the planet every time a sippy cup tipped over and leaked because it was 155% of the time. EVERY. SINGLE. CUP! If you have a sippy cup that DOESN’T leak, please let me know because next time around I’m not cleaning up juice all day long.

Hope you enjoyed this mini-meal rundown, what do your littles eat?
