Friday ( Fall ) Favorites

Is September really RIGHT around the corner? I have seen so many posts about the joys of cool crisp air, PSL at Starbucks and flannel shirt season. Me on the other hand, NOT looking forward to the end of warm weather at all. Granted, I love wearing vests, they’re like my second layer of skin but I would REALLY rather be in a bikini for a little longer. Oh well. Fall is coming and there is nothing I can do to change that. Instead, I have rounded up a couple cozy finds to flip your house from summer beach to cool and breezy pumpkin patch.

DSC_0410After Brandon goes to bed and we are cozied up on the couch, I have already found myself grabbing for a blanket to throw over my legs! One night in the 60’s and I’m freezing. Update your cozy-collection with this Pompon Throw, it’s so cute and adds a little something-something to the average throw blanket.

Pumpkins are always going to be a fall favorite ( for obvious reasons! ) and I like to change those up every couple of years. I thought these cuties would look adorable on our landing and white resin pumpkins down the center of the table ( hobby lobby is having a crazy sale going on right now )

Candles, candles, candles! I love this jar candle too! Need I say more? Next month I will be featuring one of my longtime friend’s shop and may even have a candle or two for you!

Freshen up your bedroom with a new duvet, decorative pillow and front door mat.

Enjoy the last few nights sitting outdoors under a blanket and drape globe string lights around the patio while sipping on warm cider out of these tumblers. I LOVE those drinking glasses and might stock up on different colors to enjoy for every season! How cute would the blue ones be for a summer party? Grab a couple lanterns to sit on the ground or line a walkway. I ordered this lantern in small and medium and cannot wait to set them out ( bonus, they’re also on sale right now ).

DSC_0455Looking forward to taking these same pictures in a few weeks and seeing how much little man has grown!

Many of the products I mentioned are on super sale right now as summer ends and fall beings, back to school is happening and Labor Day is coming up. Grab the deals before they sell out! Stay tuned for some upcoming posts on Small Shops I will be featuring along with awesome GIVEAWAYS to kick off the first day of Fall ( September 22nd ).

Styles for Less

I am all about finding a good deal and that means from the grocery store to the clothes on my back. I shop the sales and I also shop the second-hand stores for gently worn, broken in clothing that is comfortable and affordable! I’ve gathered together a couple clothing sites I love to check out on the daily!

thredupFirst stop is thredUP, they are an online Consignment store for men, woman, children and accessories which lets you shop pages and pages of gently used to new items all at a fraction of the original price. You will see their price as well as what the retail price was of the item along with the size, material and their condition. Go one step further and send them items from your own closet and make money once it sells to use towards new items! Use the link above and code SUMMER for 40% off your entire purchase as a new customer.

I’ve mentioned Stitch Fix before as a way to have a personal stylist dress you in the most up to date clothing at a fairly reasonable cost. I do find the prices on the items to be a little out of my budget but once in a while you’ll find that staple item and won’t be bothered by the price tag. You fill out a fashion profile with likes, dislikes, sizing and any other style information you can give them. Aside from that, you can make style Pinterest boards to add to your profile and your stylist will use that as a guide. Give them tips or a specific item you’ve been looking for and let them work their magic. Pay the $25 styling fee and that will be credited towards any item you choose to keep!

renttherunwayWith four weddings coming up this year (plus the showers and bachelorette parties) I need outfits for each one that won’t break the bank. I’m not one to invest in expensive, fancy dresses and typically wear the same one for years before I get sick of seeing myself in the same outfit in every picture! I haven’t tried Rent the Runway yet but I do plan to make my first purchase soon! You can order an item (choose two sizes just in case), wear it to your event and send it back within 4 or 8 days! The prices are amazing and the reviews really help you determine if it’s the right item for you. I’m really looking forward to trying a romper – and the best part is if I don’t like it, it doesn’t matter!! Use the link above and code FIRSTRTR20P for 20% off and $30 off your first order. I am not sure if both discounts can be used together.

Father’s Day

Let’s celebrate those Fathers or Father Figures in our lives whether it’s a Dad, Granddad, Uncle or Friend we love everything they do for us and show us. How about showing them how much we care.

fathersday

Hat / Wind Breaker / Sneakers / Copper Mug or Moscow Mule / Beats Pill / Wireless Headphones / Dude Wipes

If your Dad is anything like mine, they “don’t need anything, don’t want anything” and that is perfectly OK! But, sometimes it’s nice to get just a little something, because…why not? For some reason, I have a fascination with buying my husband sneakers…I just love them and getting new ones is always fun. I can never seem to find anything for me but for him, no problemo!

I think the moscow mule mug thing is a little, eh, I’m over it; however, the beer mugs are a little nicer and they can be engraved! Give Daddy a mug with a 6-pack or a couple of his favorite rare beers and his day just got a whole lot sweeter.

My coworker has these Beats Wireless headphones and he’s really impressed with them so I thought what a great idea for someone who has been wanting a pair for the gym or just everyday. They are great for working out and can be adjusted for your head – don’t forget the Beats Pill which lets yous jam out to your favorites anywhere!

You can never go wrong with a new baseball hat or wind breaker (I really think this is all stuff I want for myself, just the men’s version). Dude Wipes – I don’t think they need an explanation! And if your dad/husband/friend has everything he needs or wants, throw in for a gift card to a store or restaurant (even Ticketmaster) and let them find something they want.

Father’s Day is June 19 (I’m giving you two weeks notice) so GO, grab some goodies…but don’t tell him I sent you!

Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mothers and Mother figures, we love you all. I wanted to share some fun ideas for the perfect gift for Mom. Here are some things I have been loving lately (and wouldn’t mind for myself!)

mothersdayThis Roman Numberal Bangle has been on my radar for a while now and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be mine – having Brandon’s birthday stamped in roman numerals just seems SO fun – get a name stamped inside for an added bonus.

If you can’t take Mom to the spa, bring the spa home! Opt for some fancy Sea Salt and Bath oils and finish things off with a beautiful new perfume.

I was thinking about items I would want and I went back and forth with kitchen accessories. I love cookbooks but hardly ever never open one! These Apron Kits would be so fun to do with your crafty Mom – a little “mom and me” day! I am loving these Measuring Cups and don’t forget the matching Whisk.

My Mom and I love going to farmer’s markets and produce stands when the nice weather hits – there’s just something about a garden tomato that you just can’t beat! I love anything by Maika, but this Market Tote with the dandelion print is too cute not to pass up (use code YAYMOM for 20% off) and throw in a water bottle to make drinking water more fun!

Mother’s Day is pretty early and here in the Northeast the weather is still a little cool so we can’t put away those blankets just yet. I think these throw blankets are adorable and love the Springy colors, the price point isn’t bad either. Lastly, I thought this could be a really fun idea – surprise Mom with her first Stitch Fix delivery. Set up a profile, choose a delivery date, pay the fee as a gift to her and see what goodies arrive – who knows, maybe she’ll find something she just HAS to have without leaving the comfort of the house. I love it and cannot wait to get my next Fix.

Mom’s should be celebrated more than just once a year (Dad’s should too!) so this year make it a pact to show Mom how much you care everyday. One of these gifts I mentioned wouldn’t hurt either. My Mom is everything to me and gave me the greatest tool ever and that’s showing me how to be an amazing Mama myself. I love you MOM! We’re all sooo very lucky to have you.

IMG_4324I am also lucky enough to have a great Mother in Law – without these two ladies Kevin and I would never get a day off, night out or dinner brought to us. We love you both!
